Odele Connor (Odile)

Saranac Lake-Odele Connor, 65, of 9 View St. died Wednesday evening at Saranac Lake General Hospital. She had been a resident of Saranac Lake for 50 years. Mrs. Connor was born in Cohoes, a daughter of Odilon and Florida Lagassee Fernet. Survivors are: her husband, Richard B. Connor; two daughters, Odile Norman of Chicago and Phyllis Connor of Washington, D.C.; a sister, Mrs. Irene Johnson of Saranac Lake; and four grandchildren. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of Mrs. Connor’s family. Friends wishing to remember her may make contributions to the Cancer Society.

Faith Shriner Thomas, YMCA Secretary
Faith Shriner Thomas, 60, a YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago corporate secretary who also directed its affirmative action program, died Wednesday in Weiss Memorial Hospital.
The North Side resident died of cancer.
Mrs. Thomas had been with the YMCA for 28 years when she left in 1986 because of illness. In the early 1960s, she was appointed corporate secretary and was the first woman to become an officer with the Y, said her husband, Henry Thomas. She was later given the additional duties of overseeing the Y’s affirmative-action program.
“She was a pioneer, in respect to opening opportunities for women in the YMCA,” said her husband.
Mrs. Thomas was a native of Highland Park, Mich. She attended Schurz High School and began her career doing clerical work for Procter and Gamble. After her retirement, she attended Truman Community College.
In addition to her husband, she leaves a stepdaughter, Sharon Thomas; a stepson, Henry Thomas Jr., and two grandchildren. **In addition she also left behind two cousins; Raymond Heer and Donald Logan and each of their children.
Memorial services will be held at 3pm. Today at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 1035 N. Dearborn. Burial was private.

Faith Shriner Thomas, loving wife of Henry I. Thomas Sr., beloved step-mother of Sharon (Douglas) Thomas Parrott and Henry Jr., fond grandmother of Hillary Thomas and Lindsay Parrott, dear cousin of Jennifer, Annie and Peter Heer. Passed away April 20, 1994 at the age of 60. Her professional activities included, 28 years with the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago serving as Corporate Secretary and Affirmative Action Officer until retirement due to disability in 1986. She was a member of J. Wilbur Messer Chapter, International Association of Retired YMCA Directors. Memorial service will be held Saturday, April 23, 1994 at 3pm at Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 1035 N. Dearborn St., Chicago (indoor parking available). In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. 312-735-4242
